Kathy MacDonald

Managing Director

Kathleen–or Kathy–has 20 years experience advising executive teams, leading organizational change and delivering improved performance—as a consultant and in corporate roles.  At TruePoint, Kathy has worked with clients in a variety of industries, with a particular focus on healthcare and consumer focused companies. Kathy’s consulting engagements include:

  • Partnering with the CEO and executive team of a leading government advisory services company to establish a new strategic direction, align the organization and enhance performance. Support included design and implementation of a new matrix organization; defining agenda and model for the new executive leadership team; designing a program to reduce cost and enhance organization effectiveness.
  • Designing and facilitating a program to accelerate growth through customer segmentation at a leading environmental services company.
  • Partnering with the CEO and leadership team of a leading academic medical center to articulate a very aspirational vision and develop the execution plan, including engaging the broader leadership team, developing a strategic roadmap and establishing shared executive goals around key initiatives.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of a two year program working with the CEOs of five Massachusetts hospitals/healthcare organizations to achieve breakthroughs in clinical quality, safety and effectiveness. 

Past Experience

Prior to joining TruePoint, Kathy worked at Timberland, as Director of Strategic Initiatives, where she led cross-functional projects including organizational design and restructuring, growth strategy, and development of performance management systems, and acted as chief of staff to the Chief Operating Officer and to the Executive Operating Committee. Later, Kathy served as Director of USW Marketing where she led the turnaround of a then-underperforming function.

Before Timberland, Kathy was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, where she focused on organizational effectiveness and strategy. Working with senior executives and client teams at consumer and financial services companies, she led projects such as developing an organization-wide program for functional capability building, redesigning a global matrix organization to improve effectiveness and developing growth strategies to capitalize on merger activity.   Prior to McKinsey, Kathy was an independent consultant and worked in sales and marketing roles for an education finance company.


Outside work, Kathy enjoys time with her family—especially walks in the woods, exploring the beach, sea kayaking, snowshoeing, reading and family dinners.
